Identification of High Risk Mothers in Antenatal period

  • Age more than 30 years less than 18 years
  • Short stature with a height less than 140 cms
  • Pallor, weakness, anemia with Hb below 7 gms, breathlessness, easy fatigability
  • Previous h/o
  1. Abortions/Still births/ early neonatal deaths
  2. Birth of last baby with birth weight of less than 2.5 kgs or more than 3.5 kgs
  3. Preterm delivery
  4. Grand multipara (more than 4 children)
  5. Previous Caesarean section or instrumental delivery or difficult delivery
  6. Convulsions in last pregnancy
  • Medical problems (TB, Heart disease, Diabetes)
  • Swelling of the feet/face/visual disturbances, headache, giddiness
  • Weight gain of more than 2.5 kgs per month
  • Vaginal bleeding at any time in pregnancy
  • Reduced or absent fetal movements
  • Over distended uterus or poor uterine growth
  • Abnormal presentation after 34 weeks
  • Albumin and sugar in urine
  • Acute pregnancy induced hypertension, Eclampsia, PET, epileptic fits
  • Multiple pregnancies
