Dr. Jana B.A. MacLeod is Consultant in General Surgery at Columbia Africa in Nairobi. An academically sound doctor, she completed her B.Sc., Biopsychology as well as M.D. Degree, Faculty of Medicine from University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C., Canada in the years 1981 and 1985 respectively. She then attained Fellowship, Trauma and Critical Care from DeWitt Daughtery Family Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care in 2003. She has a work experience of nearly 30 years and has always strives to maintain a very strong doctor patient relationship at all times. She has worked as a Lead Surgeon, Thyroid Tumor Board, Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, GA; Consultant Surgeon, Kiambu District Hospital, Kiambu, Nairobi, Kenya; and Part-time Lecturer, Kenyatta University School of Medicine, Nairobi, Kenya. To add to her knowledge, she has attended several courses, workshops and CME’s and has also authored numerous publications and presentations. ‘Critical Care in Africa: A Surgical Intensivist Perspective’, is one such example of her publication which later got published in East Cent Afr J Surg.
